The Consteel Technology of 2030: Where Continuous Scrap Charge to EAF Is Heading

The Consteel technology has entered its fourth decade of existence. While the idea of scrap continuous charge to the electric arc furnace has demonstrated its strength over any alternative methods, innovation has never stopped and the Consteel process is now more efficient than ever, from the energy and also from the environmental point of view: a low-cost clean process to produce liquid steel. This paper provides details of all the newest technology innovations adopted on the last 10 Consteel projects, with plant results and benchmarking information, indicating the guidelines for the process improvements that can be expected for the new decade.
