Innovative Active System for Leak Detection in Water-Cooled Panels: Development and Recent Results

  • Marco Luccini, Tenova Goodfellow Inc. ,
  • Vittorio Scipolo, Tenova Goodfellow Inc.

Water leaks occurring due to cooling circuits fractures in steelmaking furnaces pose a serious safety risk. It is essential to monitor the integrity of water cooling circuits for defects that can cause immediate or potential hazards. In this contribution, Tenova presents the results achieved in detecting water leaks from the upper shell of an electric arc furnace by the installation of novel sensing technology, with the aim of improving leak detection sensitivity and reliability in comparison to alternative systems currently available.
